Crossing the Border into Scotland at Carter Bar where

Tyne towards Chester and Bonchester Bridge |
At Southdean in the shadow of Carter Bar on Jed Water (River)
the ruins of the 13th Century Souden Kirk stand, being the pre battle meeting
place of the Scottish Generals prior to the battle of Otterburn in 1388.
After Chester at Bonchester bridge located on the Rule Water
below Bonchester Hill to which a walk is rewarded with panoramic views, before
our journey reaches Hawick.

devastated the border town of Hawick with almost all the men from the
community being killed, they are remembered in the towns High street by the
Horse Monument. The Wilton Lodge Museum portrays the woolen
industry of the area which was founded by a John Hardie. |
