It is unknown when where and by whom Whiskey was discovered,
what is known that distilling has been going on in Scotland and Ireland for at
least 1500 years it is claimed by the Irish that they invented it, calling it
Uisce Beatha which is pronounced "Ish/ke ba/ha" which means the Water of Life,
the then English anglicised the Uisce to Whiskey.
The Glenkinchie Distillery is at Peaston Bank
near Pentcaitland south east of Edinburgh and Dalkieth was established in

It was rebuilt in 1880's after a
period of disuse and again in the mid 1920's, when the distillery manager W.J.
Macpherson fed his prize-winning Aberdeen Angus cattle on the spent grain.
Glenkinchie is the only remaining
malt whisky distillery close to Edinburgh indeed the quality of it’s Lowland
Malt is considered as Edinburgh’s whisky.
Glenkinchie Distillery offers tours
of the facility, which provide an insight into the distiller's craft, a museum
and exhibition describing the history of malt whisky distilling and a whisky
